First, I can say these cookies are very easy to prepare and I am proud to say I made all 6 units without a single failed batch. :) So they are basically fool-proof as long as one follows the instructions.

The cookies do not flatten a lot while baking, so I was able to fit more per cookie sheet than normal -- about 16 cookies on a 13x18 cookie sheet vs. the typical 12. In fact, if you drop the dough on the cookie sheet and don't flatten it a little, you will end up with cookie mounds. Uneven edges around each cookie will remain so -- these do not flatten out into smooth-edged discs. The texture reminds me of homemade oatmeal cookies, actually.

I realized after the first batch I didn't even need to butter the cookie sheet. I use aluminum bakeware yet the finished cookies came off the un-buttered sheets as if they had a non-stick coating (they don't). I typically baked the cookies for about 14 minutes and they were soft and moist but set. At 15 min. they were still soft, not quite as moist but not dry.

Second, I admit I wasn't sure I liked the taste much at first. The one thing I could definitely pinpoint about the taste after the first batch was that they seemed too salty. So for all subsequent batches I used unsalted butter and this was a big improvement. These do not taste the same as non-GF cookies, IMO, yet they are pretty good (very good with milk) and for me they did satisfy chocolate-chip-cookie cravings**.

**These cookies have far more chocolate chips/chunks than I find in typical cookie mixes, which helps with my evaluation, I'm sure. :)

This product is a perfect example for the erroneous notion that the label of "all natural" or "organic" is of higher quality and therefore of good taste. It seems to me that the makers have not really put much effort into this product. Before purchasing I looked everywhere on-line for the ingredients label and could not find it anywhere. I came across these bowls when I was looking for something healthier than traditional fried noodles. They were on sale, so I gave them a try and I'm so glad I did! The thick noodles come in a pouch, and you start preparing the meal by dumping these noodles into the large styrofoam bowl and pouring in boiling water to cook them. After a few minutes, dump out the water (the lid acts as a strainer, but be careful) and replace with fresh water and the soup base packet, along with a small packet of traditional dried Japanese goodies (green onions, fish crackers, etc.). After a minute, the soup is done! What is amazing is that with this short prep time, the soup still tastes like a homemade soup made with love. It is very comforting and just makes me happy.

The flavor is a complex, but very traditional, fish soup. If you commonly eat Japanese food, you'll probably find the fish flavor very light. A traditional American palate might find it a bit fishy, but I think you'll quickly adjust and grow to love it if you keep an open mind. You might also consider adding vegetables and/or meat to fill out the dish a bit. I have added shitake mushrooms to good effect.

I do find these a bit expensive, but they are really in a different league than the fried noodle packs offered by the same company. The texture is somewhere between that of sticky rice and regular rice. The only thing I don't like is the plastic bowl it comes in, for two reasons: 1. you can "taste the plastic sometimes, especially at the bottom and the sides. 2. it goes straight into the landfill. It would be great if they replace the plastic bowl with some sort of natural/biodegradable material. That's the reason I took off one star, otherwise it is a pretty good product for the price. If you are getting it this rice, I'd suggest doing what I do and what some others here have said, dump the contents in a creamic/glass bowl and follow the instructions on the package to microwave.
